Annual Picnic (August 18) Details
We have the date and location for this year's VFA Bash!
It will be held on Saturday, August 18
@ the Greenwood Community Center
865 Greenwood Road
Crozet VA 22932
Check out the link to the Albemarle Co. Parks Dpt. info about the park HERE.
Crozet is just west of Charlottesville, right off I-64 and close to the I-81 corridor. VFA Director, Kevin Markey has scouted the location and is talking to local caterers for us at the time of this writing. Watch our Facebook page for details as they come up.
Why are we doing this in this Central Virginia location? Apart from it being, well, central...
We are currently working with VFA member (and new apprentice!) Dr. Dave McRuer of the Wildlife Center of Virginia to organize a hands-on seminar in raptor emergency procedures/first aid for falconers!
This exciting course should be held on the day after the Bash, i.e. Sunday August 19, most likely at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro. The setup will give participants a chance to "make it a weekend" and maximize everyone's trip.
There are many lodging options in the area, so staying over should not be a problem.
We will post more details on the seminar as we get closer to finalizing things, but this is where we are at this moment.
Remember that this is our Annual Fundraising Auction and Art Showcase, so bring your birds, your friends, your creation (with raptors and/or falconry as the subject matter) and your family. Admittance is free, but you’ll have to pony up for the lunch. Auction items raise $ for the publication of our premier Annual Journal, HawkTalk, and if you need some gear, here’s the place to acquire stuff.
Mark your calendars!
